The high achiever has successfully linked his or her existence to the vehicles of business and thought that are the products of the dominant culture. As the fabric of the dominant culture and the rules of engagement are fracturing, the high achiever can lose all bearings.
Meaningful engagement becomes possible when you relinquish your ego’s identity of who you are. You surrender your expectations of who you should be. You come to trust discomfort as something requiring your attention. Pain is no longer threatening. You understand despair and a sense of a lack of engagement as invitations to inquiry.
When childhood experiences of ridicule or neglect are cleared, when you have surrendered the habit of repressing or denying your gifts, you can finally untangle yourself from the needs and realities of others.
Unless you are dedicated to being a vehicle for the wisdom of a client’s spirit, for a client’s unseen, intangible being— I believe your skills as a healer are limited.
